Barry Jackson, Professor Emeritus, Rivier University. After completing his doctoral studies at Oregon and faced with a soft job market, he returned home to Maine and worked in business for a few years. But his love for teaching brought him back to academia, he became Chair of Modern Languages at Rivier University where he started a Masters Degree program in Spanish and shared his love of language teaching and learning. His unusual research focus involved video production of rural Cuban theater performances. After his retirement, he spent four years in China teaching English at the university level. He currently lives on the Maine coast and teaches the occasional class on Zoom.
