Joan Bowman Siegel is retired and a professional volunteer who works primarily with the League of Women Voters and the international high school exchange organization AFS. Before retiring in 2011, she spent six years working in Japanese finance in London and over a decade as a Japan analyst for the US government, which included three years at the US Embassy in Tokyo. She also spent almost a decade as a member and then chair of the UO Foundation Board and on the advisory council for the UO Clark Honors College.
