Kimberly Gauderman earned her Ph.D. in Latin American History at UCLA and is a professor of Latin American history at the University of New Mexico. She also serves as an expert witness in Latin American asylum cases. She authored Women’s Lives in Colonial Quito: Gender, Law, and Economy in Spanish America (University of Texas Press, 2003) and is the editor of and contributor to Practicing Asylum: A Handbook for Expert Witnesses in Latin American Gender- and Sexuality-Based Asylum Cases (University of California Press, 2023).
