Yen Mai

Yen is a Government Innovation Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School Government Performance Lab (GPL) where she helps governments develop unarmed, non-police responses to 911 calls involving mental and behavioral health. She is a barred attorney with extensive experience working to advance equity and justice for people impacted by systems of mass incarceration. She served as a public defender in Miami-Dade County, FL before becoming a policy advisor for elected officials, professional athlete organizations, and grassroots groups working to lower arrest and incarceration rates in jurisdictions around the country. Her philosophy is find the things that make you happy, then make as much room in your life for them as possible.
