Katalin combined her love of science and language at the University of Oregon (2016, cum laude) by studying marine biology and Spanish. Her degree combination set her up perfectly for intertidal invertebrate ecology and marine science education in beautiful Chile. Always looking for the next challenge, her desire to help coastal communities prepare for the realities of climate change led her to the University of Washington's School of Marine and Environmental Affairs. There, she completed coursework and research that positions her to work at the intersection of people, science, and policy, which will serve her well in the coming year as the Hershman Fellow for the Washington Department of Natural Resources.
